In collaboration with AfrikaConsulting the prison ministry ‘Gefährdetenhilfe Scheideweg e.V.‘ is currently conducting a project on ‘Offender Aid and Penal Systems in African Nations‘ proposing a strategic partnership of institutions of offender aid and penal systems which is based on local, regional and trans-national cooperation.

Background:
In terms of crime prevention, penal systems can not be effective without the support of civil society: (Volunteer) offender aid institutions are effective partners in crime prevention as they e.g. help to lower recidivism. Thus a cooperation of institutions of penal systems and offender aid can provide a solid foundation from which effective crime prevention strategies can be developed.
To start such a cooperation requires detailed information, for example on contact details, programmatic and operational principles etc. Regarding African nations however, relevent information is scarce.

Aim: Therefore the aim of this project is to compile information on offender aid and penal systems in the nations of Africa thus helping to promote a strategic partnership.
The compiled information will be published in book form in order to provide information to those interrested in the topic.

If you deem the project worthy of support we should be grateful if you could complete the attached form.
